Privacy Policy
Last updated
MonkeySolve is a speedcubing timer and trainer. Accounts are optional. This policy explains what information the app handles, why it is used, and how you can manage it.
Who to contact
The MonkeySolve team operates MonkeySolve at monkeysolve.online. For privacy questions, access requests, corrections, or account deletion, email malloclabs@outlook.com.
Information stored on your device
In guest mode, your sessions, solves, scrambles, comments, profile, preferences, and trainer progress are saved in your browser’s local storage. Guest progress is not uploaded to the account database. Scramble generation and practice statistics run on your device.
Browser storage also holds authentication sessions, account-specific offline copies, and pending cloud saves when you sign in. Clearing site storage removes those local copies and may sign you out. It does not delete data already saved to your cloud account.
Google sign-in and cloud saves
If you choose to sign in, Google shares your basic profile, which may include your name and profile picture, email address, and account identifier with Supabase Auth to identify your MonkeySolve account. MonkeySolve requests basic profile and email permissions, without access to Gmail, Drive, or Calendar. Google manages your Google password.
While signed in, MonkeySolve stores your sessions, solves, scrambles, comments, profile fields (including any bio or WCA ID you provide), preferences, and trainer progress in Supabase. This restores your progress across devices. Database access rules restrict users to their own account’s progress. Guest solves are added only when you choose “Import guest solves.”
How information is used
Information is used to run the timer and trainer, remember preferences, calculate your statistics, authenticate your account, save and restore progress, and respond to support requests. If you email us, we receive your email address and the information you include.
MonkeySolve uses Vercel Web Analytics to understand site visits and page views. Query strings and URL fragments are removed from page URLs before they are sent to analytics. We do not send your solves, comments, profile fields, or account identifiers as analytics events. The app does not include advertising. Your practice history is not sent to Google as part of Google sign-in.
Service providers and external requests
Vercel hosts the site, Supabase provides authentication and cloud storage, and Google provides sign-in and hosted fonts. Their servers may process technical information such as your IP address, browser information, request time, and requested resource to deliver and secure these services. Google Fonts requests occur even when you use guest mode.
These providers may process information in countries other than your own. Their handling of information is described in the Vercel Privacy Notice, Supabase Privacy Policy, and Google Privacy Policy. See also Google Fonts privacy information.
Information may also be disclosed when required by applicable law or when necessary to investigate abuse and protect the service or its users.
Browser storage and cookies
MonkeySolve uses local and session storage for progress, preferences, sign-in, and cloud-save recovery. The app does not set advertising or analytics cookies. External services may use their own storage when you interact with them, including during Google sign-in. You can manage site storage through your browser; blocking it may prevent saving progress or staying signed in.
Retention and security
Local progress remains until you delete it or your browser removes it. Cloud progress is retained while your account is in use and until it is deleted through the app’s controls or an account-deletion request. Recovery copies, deletion records used for synchronization, backups, and security logs may remain for the periods needed to operate the service, meet legal obligations, or follow providers’ retention schedules.
Account access controls help protect cloud progress, but no storage or transmission method is completely secure. Keep exports of important solves and protect access to your Google account and device.
Your choices and rights
You can use MonkeySolve without signing in, edit your profile, export solves in Settings, or download a full local backup from Account. You can delete solves or reset progress in Settings; while signed in, those changes reach the cloud when saving completes. Signing out returns to separate guest progress and does not delete your account.
To request access, correction, or deletion of your account data, email malloclabs@outlook.com from the address associated with your account. We may need to verify ownership before acting. Deleting the MonkeySolve account also deletes its associated saved progress from the active account database; local copies on your devices and downloaded exports must be cleared separately.
You can separately remove MonkeySolve’s authorization in your Google Account connections. Removing authorization does not itself delete MonkeySolve cloud progress. Depending on your location, applicable law may provide additional rights, including to restrict or object to processing, receive a portable copy, or complain to a data-protection authority. Contact us to exercise applicable rights.
Children’s privacy
MonkeySolve is a general-audience practice tool and is not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information without appropriate permission, contact us so we can investigate and remove it as appropriate.
Changes to this policy
Updates will appear on this page with a revised date. If data practices change materially, we will provide additional notice where required by applicable law.
